Why Does My Dog Start Hacking After He Runs And Gets All Excited?
Author: admin // Category: Site NewsHe starts to hack, like hes going to throw up, only he doesn’t.
It only happens after he runs and gets to excited.
I hope its not an early sign of heart worms

Oh, the hacking thing. We went through that with one of our dogs, but it was a constant thing (not just after exertion), and there was some degree of phlegm. It ended up costing us a little over $1,000.00 to find out that he had allergic bronchitis. He’s fine, he’s off the meds now, but it’s definitely worth getting it checked out at the vets. Good luck!

Um, you hope?
FInd a veterinarian and make an appointment.
Have them investigate the problem, and do whatever they say.
I hope your dog doesn’t have heartworm, too - but if you don’t know, it’s possible you should also ask the vet to help you find a new home for this poor dog.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title was heartworm. I could be something else but in any case, the dog needs to see a vet.
Missing a month here and there isn’t that big a deal, but if you’ve gone long periods without heartworm meds, that can cause a problem. Get the dog to the vet.

it could be kennel cough. my mom’s poodle does this hacking/snorting type thing when he gets excited and it’s because he has something wrong with his airway that is untreatable and will eventually kill him, have it checked by a vet

If you haven’t had your dog on heartworm prevention, a simple blood test could help rule that out.

well it could be that or your dog has asthma.
