How Do I Detect New Hardware On Windows Vista?

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I have DV camcorder and we have bought an express card for a Firewire 1394 and firewire cable. I’m on a laptop and we’re trying to broadcast a lecture on Ustream. So basically I’m connecting the DV camcorder to my laptop to get a live video feed. But I’m not getting response trying to detect new hardware.
How do I fix this?

I had to learn this the hard way. Ninety percent of the time when Windows Vista doesn’t automatically detect hardware, it usually means it is not compatible.

Hi, I’m Cody, and I’m working with the Microsoft Vista Outreach Team. I see you’re having some problems getting Vista to automatically detect some new hardware on your PC and I might have some suggestions that might help.
The action I’d first recommend is making sure that your camcorder is compatible with your copy of Vista. The easiest way to do this is by performing a search using Microsoft’s Windows Vista Compatibility Center at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compati... This will show you whether or not your particular model of camcorder should work with Vista. It’s a pretty handy site that lets you see exactly what hardware (and software, if you have those issues too) is compatible with your copy of Windows Vista. The site should guide you towards the resources you need, and should provide you with a ton of useful links.
If your particular camcorder doesn’t show up as listed on the search results, I’d definitely recommend that you check out the manufacturer’s website just to make sure they haven’t released any updated drivers or software.
Hopefully these options will be of some help for you, or at least get you pointed in the right direction! Let me know if either of them are helpful!
    Thanks,
    Cody
