How Do You Seriously Mod An Object For The Sims2!?

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I know there are plenty of tutorials on the internet and stuff but they don’t really explain step by step how to mod an object! If you have time explain it to me in your answer. If not send me a link!

I’m sorry, but those tutorials are the best resource. I can give you an answer, but it won’t be as detailed.
You can only mod objects for the PC version of the game. SimPE does not work on the Mac, and the console games do not permit the use of custom content.
    You need the following tools:
    A 3d mesh editor
a graphics editor to make new textures
    The SimPE (package editor)
Basically you use SimPE to copy an object that you want to change, and you change the copy. If you want to change it’s form and shape you extract the mesh files and then open them in the 3D editor and make changes, keeping in mind that chairs, tables and other surfaces still must be the same height so sims can interact with them.
Then the new mesh needs to get a texture map, to define how the image that gives the new shape appearance will get wrapped around the mesh.
Then you need to create your texture within the borders of the new map.
Now you use the SimPE to import the new mesh and it’s texture back into the game as an object and make a shadow or reuse the existing one if possible so that it looks realistic when shadows are turned on in the game.
Finally you test your object and use it to make sure it looks right in a lot.
The tutorial I learned from is this one: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.ph...
The JWoods tutorial is considered one of the best beginning start to finish mesh instructional guides.
If you have some other kind of mod you wanted to do, you’ll have to be more specific. Some people just do recolors of textures, without changing meshes. Other people just change the behavior of objects in the game world and fix developer bugs, or modify things that make your sims lives easier.
I had to mod an old custom fridge I downloaded to make it compatible with the functions in Seasons and Freetime. To do something like that you only need SimPE, but you should ask at a modding site what you need to change to fix a specific issue.
