I need to validate a text box to make sure it contains only letters or numbers, and starts with a letter (no spaces!)
I’m using this to help prevent both unexpected errors and SQL Injection - basically a user will be creating an account, and then that account name will be taken and a table will be created in a MySQL database bay that name.
The only part I need help with is validating. Although I’m usually very adament on both understanding and creating myself any coding I use on my sites, I’d be willing to bend that if anyone can offer guidance here, or recommend me to a site that could help me out.
I want to validate with a CGI script, not a JavaScript, because that could easily be bypassed.

What hardware do I need to buy so I can go wireless. Someone told me to get a wireless router. Is that all I need? Do I need to attach something to the laptop so it can receive the signal? There are two user accounts on my windows vista computer, my account (limited) and an administrator. My bro gave me the computer because he forgot the admin password.
