How To Connect My Pc To Residential Gateway?
I want to connect my system now running on windows vista to a Ethernet connection(which is available for free in our flat). i have a Ethernet card installed in my comp, I have plugged in a RJ45 connected to the PC and the other end to the RJ45 mount on the wall.
There network connection is on but the internet is not working…
I receive an message that there is no or limited connection..
I tried contacting the flat system admin to get me the IP address,Gate way, and DNS (the smart a$$ guy would not give me details, and he need 40 $ to come and set it up..)
He say the the internet connection is totally free and his charge is 40 $ to set things up.
I don’t want to pay him, i want to configure the internet myself with out his assistance.
I have limited knowledge in networking, hope the screen shots below will give u an idea..

To my knowledge the free internets ip,gateway, and dns address is hidden..(Correct me if iam wrong)
I checked with my neighbor regarding the flats free internet, he is able to connect to the internet with out any hassles , He is running Vista on XPS Laptop,he plugs in RJ45 and he does not do any configuration it works for him..
He came home and and checked my system,he doesn’t know much about networking just like me..
So iam lost..
Appreciate if some one can help me with this issue..
What steps should i follow to successful connect to the internet.
And what data should i get from my neighbor to configure my internet.
I also have another internet connection Zain 3G(Quwait)http://img266.imageshack.us/my.php?image…

is that your neighbours IP info?
IF it is his IP is 192.168.2.63 (so you should use 64 or maybe 85 to be safer)
His default gateway is 192.168.2.1
his DNS server is 192.168.2.1
If that is your machine then it is strange it does not work.
