    I prefer to use McAfee Total Protection 2009. Its only $39.99 and offers complete protection and one of the most popular ones. I trust McAfee to protect my computer every day and thats exactly what it does. When i do a system scan, it always finds the viruses i need removed and hidden ones too. Go For McAfee.

    never get avg, put it this way avg is for idiots who think it is the best when in a couple of days they get infected asking for someone’s help on how to remove the infection. avg also doesn’t have anti-rootkit which is a big factor when removing virus and rogue.
    WHILE avast and avira are better than avg they have better detection and prevention from viruses and spyware. i have avast on my laptop and avira on my desktop and neither one has had a virus when i scanned with malwarebytes.
    Malwarebtes is a excellent program to remove malware. I have used this software many times on my clients computers.

    Best is really a point of perspective. It also depends on what exactly you want to do and how computer knowledgeable you are. It is hard to find a really good antiviral for free but one of my favorites (and a pretty reasonable price) is spyware doctor. It covers just about any virus, spyware, or adware you can get and it is very easy to use. It also gives you around the clock protection. Hope I helped.

    I’ve alwas has great success with Avira’s Antivir (rated the best of the freeware) but then about 2 months ago, it started acting strange. Updates were getting missed and the real-time guard would shut down for no apparent reason… I know what your thinking, virus…. NOPE..
    I even went as far as to reformat and wipe everything off my hard drive… I then re-installed Antivir… NO LUCK !!!
    I now went back to a program I had used a few years ago to see if it was still stable.. SURE WAS !! … and to beat it all, it was still FREE plus had more features.
    I recommend to everyone now that they check-out Avast 4.8 Home Edition…. After all this time it remains one of the most stable, best featured free anti-virus programs out there…and the detection rates are good…

    First think you do is uninstall Norton or whatever crap it came with. Then install Avast AntiVirus. A whole lot better then Whatever it came with and free.

    Go to downloads.com and get AVG. 8.5 Free Version…this will protect your computer until you can afford a Full Anti-Virus Suite…
