What Is The Default Root Password For Suse 10 Gnu/linux?

Author: admin  //  Category: Linux

I have installed SUSE Linux 10 on my computer but because of some problems I didn’t make any new account and I didn’t set root password. Now I don’t know how to login. If there is a default root password please tell me what it is.

    you can’t get thru the (Open?)Suse installation without setting the ROOT password;
    if you didn’t enter one, the installation didn’t complete correctly;
    try to do the following:
    - reboot your PC with your (Open?) Suse install media in the CD drive
    - choose exactly the same options you did last time;
    - after a few screens, the installer should offer to use the existing install (versus starting from scratch)
    - the install process will continue as before, but the copy time should be reduces; you WILL BE asked a ROOT password;
    be sure to remember what you enter there, otherwise…

    You set your root password upon installation.

    Try booting from the installation disk and see if there is anything in the repair section. If not do a reinstall and make sure you set up a root & user account, also remember the passwords as you’ll use them all the time.

    Try to login using password “blank”. Then change your root password using the command “passwd”.

    I’m not a SUSE user (I’m partial to Debian-Sarge), but I have seen this question go by a few times in the last couple days.
    My first thought is this was a new bug, but browsing (quickly) the SUSE forums, I did not see any “sticky” post, the way you will when there is a new bug announcement.
    That doesn’t mean there is not one (like I said, I didn’t look very long..) However, I would recommend looking/ posting your question here;http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?act=…
    rather than Yahoo Answers, for the quickest way to get your issue resolved.
    Hope that Helps, & Good Luck : )
