What it seems like you’re looking to do is to start an “Information Security Consulting Firm” or “Penetration Testing” - same thing just sounds better than “Ethical Hacking. The first thing you want to do is look into your area and check out the competition. See if there are any other companies that offer Ethical Hacking, IT Security Services….. It sounds to me like you’re just now starting out. I wouldn’t recommend starting out with a self-run business. But don’t let me discourage. With something this high-risk companies are looking for experienced personnel to help protect there networks not a “newbie”. I would recommend getting some experience under your belt first by working for a company that provides this service already, that is unless there are none in your area. Also I would reccomend getting a certification such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, GIAC…. I don’t have to time to explain them so Google them. These are nationally recognized certification programs that say ” Hey I know how to protect your network” There’s so much information I should go over. Im just going to reccomend you some books and siteshttp://www.ethicalhacker.net/content/vie…http://gocertify.com/1597490210/Penetrat…http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Art-Informatio…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certified_I…http://books.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid…

Contact small companies that run their own IT and offer a free one day penetration test. Give them a quick outline report on what they’ve done well, what they need fixed, and what else you would test if they paid for your service. Use the goodwill you generate by offering these client building services to catch bigger fish.

Look at sites that need high security. They have “test hackers” who hack the site to test security. Ask those companies for advice or even apply for a job there.
