What Can I Use To Harden Paper Other Than Mod Podge?

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I am looking for something to apply to paper crafts that will give a hard, durable finish. The items I make are made completely from paper (such as bowls, for example). I like the finish the gloss Mod Podge gives, but it isn’t as strong or sturdy as I would like. I would appreciate suggestions! Thanks!

What about learning how to decoupage?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decoupage
The varnishes used in decoupage are layered on and produce a strong finish.
There is also an actual product that hardens paper:http://rinnie5ive.blogspot.com/2008/10/p…
I hope this information might help you or lead you to find what you want for your projects. Good luck!

Have you tried varnish? That can get quite hard. You can get clear acrylic which will dry into a very hard and clear coating.
You can use sugar as well, but that is not very strong if you plan on crushing the bowls. It also attracts insects, and will get soft when wet.

You could use resin but it would most likely be very smelly and expensive.
